discovering the big river
(Casalmaggiore (CR) - Lombardia)

During an excursion organized to promote the navigation on the river Po, to which were invited journalists, bloggers and mayors of the riverside villages, our collaborator Erika took some splendid pictures of the event with a few notes.

<<Delighted by a wonderful sunny day, we embarked at Casalmaggiore and, sailing against the current, we headed toward Polesine Parmense.
Comfortably settled in the boat, cheered by music and tempting appetizers, we admired the landscape around.
Bends, holms and colors and among them bell towers and farmhouses.
We landed at Polesine where Mr. Spigaroli, the owner of the Antica Corte Pallavicina, opened the culatelloFort Knox”.
A warm and very tasty reception, in all respects.
We moved again admiring the landscape completely changed due to the change of perspective and to the fading light.
We landed again at Casalmaggiore: this little adventure was over but its memory will remain

A note by borgo-italia:

The river Po is certainly not as the Danube or the French canals since its regime is a semi-torrential one and therefore not always navigable.
That being said, we wonder why the Danube and the French canals are so popular unlike the Po: maybe our neighbors have network building capability and therefore can better marketing.
And think to the marvel of a few days cruise from Torino to Venezia with stops in our art heritage cities matched with the wine and food excellences and with detours to the Lago Maggiore or to thee lakes of Mantova.
Certainly succeeding in such an enterprise would imply many jobs and give an impulse to the economic recovery.
