a trip to the Nuraghic village of Tiscali
(Dorgali (NU) – Sardegna)

Our friend Francesca never ceases to amaze us with the images of her splendid land.
Now she brings us to the Nuraghic village of the Monte Tiscali (518 meters above sea level) where we are charmed by history of course but also by the astonishing colors.

A short history:
probably frequented since the pre-Nuraghic era, it was built during the Nuraghic Age, between XV and VIII century BC, and remodeled in II century BC by Romans.
Built at the back of a Karstic hill it is hidden from view until you get inside the hollow through a passage in the rock.
Decades of plunders and neglect have damaged this splendid site until it was began a recovery project; the Cooperativa Ghivine of Dorgali was put in charge of the protection and the association now manage the guided tours and the security service also by night.

Thanks to its microclimate inside the dolina there is a centuries-old wood.

A note:
In the photo 13 there is a marten, in Sardinian “grassile”: this is a rare species and is protected by the regional law.
