Ci siamo recati al minuscolo borgo di Fontanelle, piccolo ma di grande fascino.
Sito nella bassa Parmense a pochi passi dal fiume Po, è rinomato in quanto è il luogo di nascita dello scrittore Giovannino Guareschi.
Si consiglia di lasciare l’auto appena prima del paese e camminare lentamente sino ad arrivare alla piazza della chiesa di San Martino del XVI secolo.

Non riportiamo la storia di Giovanni Guareschi (Fontanelle, 1.05.1908 – Cervia, 22.07.1968), in quanto persona nota e di cui si trovano molteplici notizie.
Relativamente a Faraboli (Valle di San Secondo Parmense, 23.03-1876 – Parma, 04.02.1953) si accenna al suo impegno politico.
Nel 1901 fonda la lega dei contadini a Fontanelle.
Dopo varie attività sindacali, nel 1914 si schiera tra gli oppositori all’entrata in guerra dell’Italia.
A causa della sua attività antifascista e quindi perseguitato, espatria in Francia, a Tolosa.
Rientrerà in Italia solo alla fine della seconda guerra mondiale.
Nel 1951 riceve dal presidente Luigi Enaudi la Stella degli italiani benemeriti all'estero.

After quite some time, we returned to visit Calestano, a village nestled among the hills of the Parma Apennines.
A location that has skillfully preserved its layout, which dates back to the time of the ancient Romans.

The village is also known because its territory is surrounded by meadows and woods that conceal the "gold of the earth": the truffle

A bit of history:
is a medieval village, at the beginning fief of the Ligurian family Fieschi passed to the Tarasconi in 1600.
The fief was suppressed by the Napoleonic reforms.
During the German occupation of the 2nd World War, three members of the Hebrew family Mattei found refuge here.
Due to this solidarity, on 2nd August 1999, the Institute Yad Vashem of Jerusalem awarded Calestano as “Righteous Among the Nations”.
