Hidden, almost shyly, in the woods of the Reggio Emilia Apennines, the tiny village of Cecciola takes the visitor back to medieval times.
Nestled on the slopes of Monte Lungo the village is made up of houses almost entirely of stone, many of these suitably restored and retaining their original appearance.
This small village, perhaps disregarded, deserves a careful visit, in silence we recommend, so as not to spoil its peaceful atmosphere typical of the Reggio mountains.

A bit of history:
As early as mid-13th century, a site called Cezula existed as a possession of the Vallisneri family.
In the early 19th century, the number of inhabitants seems to have amounted to 93.
The small church, dedicated to Maria Assunta, has a valuable carved stone portal on its façade dated 1885.
Several portals of different shapes can be seen in the village, the oldest of which is dated 1592.
