Grand Tour around the hills of Parma (1st part)
(Bore – Pellegrino P.se – Salsomaggiore T. (PR) - Emilia Romagna)

Maybe we exaggerate naming this special “Grand Tour” comparing this to the trips undertaken by the British upper-class young men across Europe and mainly in Italy.
With this special we invite you to consider that, far too often, it is a sign of short-sighted provincialism going as lemmings to visit exotic places that become “exotic” when there arrive a crowd of tourists.
With this little trip we would demonstrate that, just behind our doorsteps, there are places worthy of being discovered.
Certainly this kind of trip has to be made by people who are able to look or better to see.

A few note:
The itinerary covers a part of the Parma hills taken as a symbol of all that could be discovered in the Apennine territories, from north to south, often unknown territories which hide little treasures as castles, churches and tiny hamlets where time stands still.
It is a day- trip of about 46 ml.
From Bore towards Pellegrino Parmense along the provincial road SP359R, with a detour, just after Bore, to the tiny hamlet of Pozzolo with its church perched on a rock.
After Pellegrino Parmense we admired the suggestive church of Varone and then we went to Salsomaggiore Terme, visiting along the road a castle and another church of which we will talk about in the 2nd part of the special.
