A bit of history:
probably founded in 42 BC as Iulia Concordia.
It was part of the Roman region “Regio X Venetia et Histria”.
After the Barbarian invasions it joined the Lombard ducky of Cividale, then the March of Friuli and later onn the Patriarchate of Aquileia.
In 1420 it was annexed to the Republic of Venice together with the all Friuli.
After the unification of Italy, in 1868 a Royal Decree changed its name in Concordia Sagittaria in remembrance of the ancient workshop of arrows (Latin: sagittae) dating back to 4th century BC.

Two notes:

• the remains of the Roman bridge (2nd-3rd century)
• theTrichora Martyrium (about 350 AD)
• the Baptistery (11th century)
• the cathedral of St Stephen Protomartyr (1466)^[1]
• the Bishop’s Palace (15th century)
• the Civic Archaeological Museum

[1] this is the last one of a series of cathedrals destroyed and rebuilt.
The first one (dated 389) was destroyed during the invasion of the Huns in 452.
