This glacial lake is at the borders between the province of Brescia and the Province of Trento; it spreads out for about 5.9 sq. miles and its tributary and effluent is the river Chiese.

A note:
from some information it seems that the conditions of the lake are worrying due both to the eutrophication because there are not drainage and purifications plants (have we to blame the towns, the province, the region?) and to the excessive exploitation of the waters for the electricity generation and the irrigation.
We hope that our short-sightedness will not destroy, as it happened in the past and will again happen, this green spot, so appreciated by the tourists, also the foreigners
