Rosas mine
(Narcao (CI) – Sardegna)

Once again our friend Francesca takes us to discover a aspect of her beautiful isaland.
Not the usual beaches, but an industrial archeological site which testifies to the hard work of the beginning of the past century.
A site that we suggest to visit abandoning, at least for some time, the most famous and well-known marine sands.

A short history:
The mining area discovery happened on the 1849.
King Vittorio Emanuele II on the 1851 authorized the extraction of the golena, the mine remained active until the 1980, when it was closed forever.
The moment of oblivion started and it was subject to vandalism actions.
During the 1986 the municipality intervened to block the disruption and initiate its restoration, transforming it into a museum under the open sky.
So was returned to the public a monument of industrial architecture of absolute cultural and historical value.
Since August 2009, the Rosas site is officially open to visitors.
