Modena cathedral, world heritage site – part 1/2
(Modena (MO) - Emilia Romagna)

Thanks to the images of our friend Gianni in this special, and in the next, we can admire one of the Italian World Heritage Site: the Modena Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta e San Geminiano.
A Romanesque masterpiece flanked by the splendid bell tower called the Ghirlandina.
The complex of the cathedral in Piazza Grande and the civic tower was included in 1997 among the "World Heritage Site ". *

* Currently Italy holds the world record for the number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, fifty-five up to 2019.
