Grappa mount
(Vicenza÷Treviso÷Belluno - Veneto)

The Grappa Mount, well-known for the tragic events of Word War I (1915-18) is a part of the Prealps of Veneto.
With its 5810 ft it rises from the Po Valley, bordering at east the PiaveRiver, at WestBrentaRiver and at north the FeltreValley.

Closed, but not forgotten, the tragic events, The Grappa Mount is today the destination for those who like spend a few hours in close contact to nature in places still free from the mass tourism.

Splendid in its austere roughness, it shows pleasant glimpses of woods and gentle dales, often spangled by blue lakes where the herds can drink.

We recommend a visit, possibly avoiding the hot season, by car, on foot, by mountain bike and, why not, by paraglide.

You should not forget the Grappa cheese, made in the little farms of the mountain pastures, even it is less known that its cousin, the Asiago cheese (the Morlacco del Grappa).
Less known, but not less savoury.

One more note: at Cima Grappa don’t forget to visit the “Vittorio Emanuele III” tunnel, developing for 3,11 ml, with several gun emplacements, observation posts, infirmaries, ammunition dumps and storage areas for food supplies and water, granting a survival of 15 days.
It was built between January and June 1918 (think over the Salerno-Reggio Calabria…).

For the visit it’ better to wear heavy clothes.
