Making the most of the splendid weather, we decided to visit Monte Isola, an island of the Lake Iseo.
We boarded in Iseo and the trip turned into a photographic safari.
Breathtaking landscapes and an unforgettable sight every moment due to the change of the light or of the point of view.

So we decided to organize the special in three parts showing the images of the island and of the southern shore of the lake.

A bit of history:
inhabited since the Roman age, there are remains of villas and of a pagan temple on the wooded top.
Christianized in the V° century by the bishop Saint Vigilius, during the Middle Age it was fiercely contended by various seigniories.
Around 1000 the Cluniac monks built a monastery and began a long lasting profitable production of fishing nets.
In 13^th century the family Oldofredi built a stronghold (now Rocca Martinengo) as defense of the Brescia lands.
At last it became a feud of the Serenissima until the unification of Italy.

A geographic note:
It is one of the widest lake island in Europe and is certainly the highest one with its 1968 ft above sea level.
