A small village in the Colvera valley that enchants visitors with its buildings with pillars, stairs, stone arches and balconies all in perfect symbiosis with nature.
Poffabro is not only an open-air museum, but also the "village of nativity scenes".
During the Christmas period all the village is transformed into a nativity scene: in every corner you can admire enchanting crèches created by different people, and the families and associations of the village contribute to make the atmosphere magical.
We have divided the special in two parts: the present one dedicated to the village, the second to the cribs.

A bit of history:
The Colvera valley, Carnic pre-Alps, was crossed by the Via Julia in Roman times.
Documents of the Bishop of Concordia are the first historical evidence dating back to 1300, when the territory was governed by the Venetian Republic.
With a ruling in 1339 it was assigned to the son of the lord of Maniago.
In 1810, with a Napoleonic decree, the village became a hamlet of Frisanco.
In 1997 the initiative 'Poffabro presepe tra i presepi' (Poffabro crèche among crèches) was born.

A note:
We would like to mention that Poffabro is not only "crèche", but is also home to wood craftsmen and the artisan manufacture of "scarpeti", ancient and comfortable shoes in embroidered velvet, handmade and typical of the area.
It was listed among the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy" in 2002.
