Un importante fortilizio domina dal colle di San Paolo la località di Cedena.

Un po' di storia:
Attorno e sul colle di San Paolo esistono tracce di insediamenti pre-romani.
Cedena divenne importante tra il VI e VII secolo a seguito dell’invasione dei longobardi.
Subì notevoli distruzioni nel 903 a causa dell’assedio degli Ungari.
Fu coinvolta nel XII nelle lotte tra le Signorie, il Comune di Treviso, i Caminesi e i Conti-Vescovi di Belluno.
Fu soggetta alla Serenissima dal 1337.
Il castello venne ricostruito nelle forme odierne nel 1420.
Subì notevoli danni con i terremoti del 1873 e del 1936 con conseguenti interventi di pesanti restauri.

An important fortress dominates the town of Cedena from the hill of San Paolo.

Our friend Massimo takes us on a short visit to the fortress.

A bit of history:
Traces of pre-Roman settlements exist around and on the hill of San Paolo.
Cedena became important between the 6th and 7th centuries following the invasion of the Lombards.
It suffered considerable destruction in 903 due to the siege of the Hungarians.
In the 12th century it was involved in the struggles between the Lords, the Municipality of Treviso, Caminesi and the Count-Bishops of Belluno.
It was subject to the Serenissima from 1337.
The castle was rebuilt in its current form in 1420.

It suffered considerable damage in the earthquakes of 1873 and 1936, resulting in extensive restoration work.
