the murales of Tinnura
(Tinnura (OR) - Sardinia)

Francesca presents us a special side of her country:
a town where the walls of the houses tell about the local peasants culture.

Francesca says “...what is striking of Tinnura is the range of colors of the streets, thanks to the polychrome floorings made of red trachyte and white marble of Orosei, together with the gray of the basalt paving the roads...

A bit of history:
This area was inhabited since the prehistory as testified by Nuraghic and pre-Nuraghic findings as the menhirs, the nuraghe Tres Bias and the Giants’ grave Su Crastu Covocadu.
The area flourished during the Roman era: the weather conditions and the soil fertility favored the development of many farms for cereal growing, that lived on until the Middle Age.

A note by borgo-italia:
The murals can be seen also in other Italian towns and villages; for example we mention two of our specials:
Guardia
Usseaux
