Abbiamo voluto dare un titolo particolarmente leggero perché la splendida cittadina , oltre a racchiudere tristi pagine di storia, relative alla prima e seconda guerra mondiale è anche città natale dei coriandoli.
Si fa riferimento all’ingegnere Ettore Fenderl (Trieste, 12.02.1862 – Vittorio Veneto, 23.11.1966) che, nel 1957, dichiarò che all’età di 14 anni, non avendo soldi e per farsi bello con le ragazze, tagliò delle strisce di carta colorata che gettò sulla folla, la storia, o forse la leggenda, vuole che così nacquero i coriandoli.

Un po' di storia:
La cittadina è sorta nel 1866 dalla fusione di due comuni, Ceneda e Serravalle.
Nel novembre dello stesso anno, per onorare Vittorio Emanuele re d’Italia, assunse il nome di Vittorio.
L’appellativo Veneto era usuale soprattutto a seguito della guerra del 1918.
L’ufficializzazione del nome e seguente conferimento del titolo di Città avvenne con il Regio Decreto n. 1765 nel mese di luglio 1923.

(Vittorio Veneto (TV) – Veneto)

We wanted to give it a particularly light-hearted title because this splendid town, in addition to containing sad pages of history relating to the First and Second World Wars, is also the birthplace of confetti.

Reference is made to the engineer Ettore Fenderl (Trieste, 12.02.1862 – Vittorio Veneto, 23.11.1966) who, in 1957, declared that at the age of 14, having no money and to show off to girls, he cut strips of colored paper and threw them into the crowd. History, or perhaps legend, has it that this is how confetti was born.

A bit of history:
The town was founded in 1866 from the merger of two municipalities, Ceneda and Serravalle.
In November of the same year, to honor Vittorio Emanuele, King of Italy, he took the name Vittorio.
The name Veneto was common especially following the war of 1918.
The officialization of the name and subsequent conferral of the title of City took place with Royal Decree no. 1765 in July 1923.

A note:
About a 15-minute drive from Vittorio Veneto is the Caglieron Caves Park, a site definitely worth visiting
